Ukraine endures one of the most intense standout attacks on August 26, Prime Minister’s Advisor and Ukrenergo Board member says

In the early hours of August 26, Ukraine was jolted awake by air raid sirens as a massive enemy missile assault targeted regions across the entire country. Explosions were reported in numerous areas, with air defense systems springing into action. In the aftermath, several regions and countless residents were plunged into darkness as power outages swept through the nation.

Yurii Boiko, an Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and a member of the Supervisory Board of Ukrenergo, detailed the situation during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

He confirmed that the widespread power outages were the result of russian strikes on critical infrastructure, compounded by precautionary measures taken by Ukraine’s energy sector to protect against further damage.

The full extent of the damage remains unclear, with Boiko noting that a comprehensive assessment will be made public once experts have evaluated the impact of the attacks.
