This year the number of fires in Ukrainian ecosystems has more than doubled

This year, over 46,000 fires have occurred in ecosystems, compared to over 20,000 in 2023.

This was reported by Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, spokesman for the State Emergency Service, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“If we talk about ecosystems in general, not just Ukrainian forests, unfortunately the number of fires in our ecosystems has more than doubled this year. Now it’s more than 46,000, including more than 1,500 forest fires. Last year, in 2023, there were over 20,000, of which 395 were in forests,” he said.

According to Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, 17 people died and 55 have been injured as a result of fires in ecosystems.
