This year, the number of fires in ecosystems and open areas is twice as high as last year – SES

Since the beginning of the year, more than 38,000 fires have occurred in ecosystems and open areas on a total area of almost 43,000 hectares.

This was reported by Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, a spokesman for the State Emergency Service, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“We are currently facing a difficult situation with fires in ecosystems and open areas. This is due to a prolonged period of dry weather. Since the beginning of the year, we have had more than 38,000 fires affecting a total area of almost 43,000 hectares. This is almost twice as many as last year,” Khorunzhyi said.
