There were a psychological turning point in Europe: Ukraine is de facto considered as member of the European Union, it remains to fulfill the requirements — Merezhko

Ukraine will become a member of the European Union in the not-too-distant future. Oleksandr Merezhko, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation, expressed the opinion during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The statements of European leaders, and especially Ursula von der Leyen, confirm that Europe and the European Union consider Ukraine de facto a member of the European Union. We believe that they have made an important decision in principle for themselves, a psychological breakthrough in their approach to Ukraine has already occurred. The main issue is to carry out all the requirements, all the recommendations that were put forward to Ukraine as a future member of the European Union. And no one doubts that Ukraine will become such a member of the European Union in the near future,” said Merezhko.
