There is no threat to Ukrainians in the center and west of Türkiye, but we don’t recommend visiting the regions affected by the earthquake – the Ambassador

Is it currently safe for Ukrainians to visit Türkiye? Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Türkiye, responded to this question during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“To avoid worldwide panic: intrinsically, visiting Türkiye doesn’t mean visiting those regions affected by the earthquake. Airports, including Istanbul, Ankara, and the main cities in central and western Türkiye, are working on a regular basis. There are no risks or fears for the Ukrainian citizens there. Most extremely affected areas – such as Gaziantep, Adana, and Mersin – are chiefly located in the south and southeast of Türkiye. The vast majority of airports in these regions are out of order or closed for passenger traffic. The main recommendation: it is not worth going to these regions,” the Ambassador noted.
