The effectiveness of Kalibr missiles used by the enemy to attack Ukraine has significantly decreased since the beginning of the war – Dmytro Pletenchuk

The decrease in the enemy’s use of naval cruise missile launchers, including Kalibr, may be due to their low efficiency. However, the enemy has enough of these weapons in the Black Sea, so we should not exclude that russia will use them in possible combined attacks.

This was stated by Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“It is quite a dangerous weapon, but its effectiveness has significantly decreased since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. We should not write it off completely, because it is a fairly common weapon, and they have plenty of it in the Black Sea – a total of eight aircraft carriers. When they are not launching attacks, they are stockpiling missiles, as their military-industrial complex is still functioning, albeit sluggishly. However, they have already realized that the use of Kalibr as a sole weapon system does not bring significant results,” he explained.

According to Pletenchuk, the Ukrainian Air Force achieved 100% interception and destruction of Kalibr missiles during the last two mass attacks. Nevertheless, the enemy may use these missiles in possible combined assaults.

“Any combined attack could involve their use. We also shouldn’t rule out the possibility of their independent use at some point, for example, during training exercises, when they can go to sea to train their sailors to launch such missiles. But again, the effectiveness of such missiles raises many questions,” he added.
