The Day of Heroes of Hundreds of Heaven is not about death but about the struggle that gripped Ukrainian society back in 2014 — General Director at the National Memorial Complex of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — Museum of the Revolution of Dignity
Ukraine will celebrate the Day of Heroes of Hundreds of Heaven on February 20. Ihor Poshyvailo, General Director at the National Memorial Complex of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred — Museum of the Revolution of Dignity, spoke about the analogy between the events of the Euromaidan and the events of the active phase of the Russian-Ukrainian war during a briefing at the Ukraine-Ukrinform Media Center.
“The Day of Heroes of Hundreds of Heaven is a day of mourning, but it is not about death. It is about a heroic struggle, ultimate self-sacrifice, and the readiness of Ukrainian society to defend the independence of Ukraine. We consider February 20, 2014 to be the date the war broke out. When Ukrainians stood up for their values and future on the Maidan when the putin regime tried to conquer Ukraine with the help of President yanukovich. The authorities used the same methods during those dramatic events of the Revolution of Dignity: arbitrarily using weapons against unarmed protesters, against the civilian population, and using prohibited weapons. We can draw an analogy. The feat of the Heroes of Hundreds of Heaven did coerce Ukrainian society, helped to prepare the Ukrainian Army in 2014 thanks to volunteer assistance, helped to make us informationally, morally strong, at various levels,” considered Ihor Poshyvailo.
