“We find far fewer bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, than russian ones,” volunteers of the “On the Shield” project
Leonid Ignatiev, head of the Public Organization “Military Historical Center “Memory and Glory”, participant in the humanitarian project of the Armed Forces “On the Shield” (“Na Shyty”), stated this during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine-Odesa.
“We found our boys with traces of torture, with traces of shots to the head, even with traces of tape on their limbs. But I can say that we find far fewer of our dead boys than russian soldiers,” the volunteer said.
“We are not authorized to tell about the number, because the war is still going on. But I can say that during the work of the mission, hundreds of ukrainian defenders returned home to be buried with their families. When we work in frontline areas, we must understand that we do not always know who we will find – our defender or the enemy. In our work, we must not be emotional, but professional,” added Leonid Ignatiev’s deputy Serhiy Sudnyk.
The NGO “Military Historical Center “Memory and Glory” has been working as part of the humanitarian project of the Armed Forces “On the Shield” since april 2022. The search groups worked in Kyiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Donetsk oblast.
