Since February 24, over 8,400 violators detained outside checkpoints and over 3,700 at checkpoints while trying to cross border illegally — Border Guard Service

During the full-scale war, Ukrainian border guards have detained 8,400 people trying to cross the border outside checkpoints, and another 3,700 at checkpoints. Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“There is no significant decrease in the number of border violators, including those outside checkpoints. This trend is especially noticeable in the areas of the border with Romania and Moldova. In total, since February 24, 8,400 such violators have been detained on the green section of the border. More than 3,700 people were stopped at checkpoints while trying to cross the border illegally either with forged documents or in another illegal way. Most of such cases are recorded at the border with Hungary and Poland,” – Demchenko said.
