Main priority of Ukrainian-Turkish relations in 2023 is to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities — Ambassador

Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Türkiye outlined plans for cooperation between the two countries in 2023 at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform

“The main priority is the defense of the state. We are working to increase defense capability through cooperation with Türkiye. Most of the issues are aimed at making the defense of the state stronger and our servicemen feel safer. On the other hand, there is a matter of implementing the signed free trade agreement. We plan to ratify it, as it should also help to overcome the negative consequences of the drop in trade. The war has reduced logistical capacity quite severely, and this is one of the key priorities. Also — help to Ukrainians who are in Türkiye, in particular to orphans. There are also questions about the involvement of Turkish companies in the reconstruction of the state. Political dialogue is an important element: we have constant dialogue between presidents, constant communication between ministers. This is one of the priorities, as strategic partnership requires concrete results. We saw these results last year, I hope they will be much more tangible this year,” — the Ambassador said.
