“Grain from Ukraine” program already joined by 43 countries

43 countries have already joined the “Grain from Ukraine” humanitarian program initiated by President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Olga Trofimtseva, Ambassador at Large with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Coordinator of the Exporters and Investors Council, made this statement during a press conference at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“To date, 43 countries are participating in the “Grain from Ukraine” program. With the contributions of our partners, we were able to purchase milling wheat primarily from our farmers and send it to those countries that need this grain the most,” — she said.

Trofimtseva noted that within the framework of this program, Ukraine supplies food to countries that are on the verge of starvation.

As reported, the “Grain from Ukraine” program was initiated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As a part of the program, partner countries purchase Ukrainian grain and transfer it to states suffering from a humanitarian crisis. The program is implemented in partnership with the World Food Program under the auspices of the United Nations.

In total, the partner countries provided almost USD 200 million worth of funding. Within the framework of the program, 110,000 tonnes of Ukrainian wheat have already been received by some of the most socially vulnerable countries in Africa — Ethiopia and Somalia.
