Statements on Poland and Slovakia’s preparedness to send MiG-29s to Ukraine are a sign of progress but Ukraine needs more modern aircraft — Ihnat

“Handing over aircraft is good news as it is a sign of progress in the matter of sending military aircraft to Ukraine – Ed.). Just as at one point there were sign of progress with sending heavy missile systems… and tanks to Ukraine,” — Yurii Ihnat, Spokesperson of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said.

Ihnat did not rule out that some of the MiG-29s could be used for spare parts for already available planes, because the aircraft wears out in active hostilities. MiG-29s were produced in the USSR, so they are ‘morally and physically outdated.’ The MiG-29 does not have a wide range of weapons that could be used to effectively confront the enemy.

? “We need Western aircraft, such as F-16s, primarily to protect our skies from aerial terrorism,” — the Spokesman noted.
