“Six people became victims of domestic fires in the Kharkiv region”, – Yevhen Vasylenko

On November 27, Yevhen Vasylenko, the spokesman of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, spoke about the operational situation that developed in the region during the past week, from November 20 to 26.

During this period, the rescuers of the Kharkiv garrison made 138 trips under the “Alarm” signal, two of which were related to the hostilities taking place in the region. Another 59 times, employees of the State Emergency Service went to road accidents, to help the population and to eliminate the consequences of enemy shelling.

Over the past week, sappers of the State Emergency Service have neutralized and eliminated more than 560 explosive objects.

32 squads of employees of the State Emergency Service and 69 units of equipment of the joint detachment of the State Emergency Service continued to inspect and demine the de-occupied and affected by the full-scale russian invasion territories of the Kharkiv region. Since the beginning of the large invasion of the occupiers, we have surveyed more than four thousand hectares of territory, about three thousand kilometers of power lines, and almost four thousand households. We have discovered and neutralized more than 84 thousand ammunition and other dangerous objects.

According to Yevhen Vasylenko, during the past week, no civilians were injured due to the contact with unknown explosives.

However, the spokesman of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region noted that rescuers went out four times between November 20 and 26 to eliminate fires and destruction caused by enemy shelling. As a result of the terrorist actions of the occupiers, a resident of Kozacha Lopan, born in 1994, died.

In the region, the number of domestic fires that occur due to violations of fire safety rules continues to increase. Six people became victims of the fire, and several people, including a 9-month-old child and a 90-year-old woman, were hospitalized with burns and signs of carbon monoxide poisoning.

“Given the increase in the number of fires, the Department of Emergency Services in the Kharkiv region calls on all residents to observe fire safety rules. The most frequent cases of household fires are careless handling of fire, violation of fire safety rules, operation of stoves and electric heating, and overloading of the electrical network. Monitor the condition and serviceability of the electrical network and appliances; do not leave them switched on without supervision. Do not use low-quality, self-made, and uncertified household electrical appliances! Supervise children and do not let them play with matches, lighters, and other dangerous objects. Try to avoid overloading electrical networks. Also, take care to protect the home when using stove and gas heating,” Mr. Vasylenko warned.

At the end of the speech, the spokesperson of the Department of Emergency Services in the Kharkiv region warned of worsening weather conditions: “A blizzard is expected, wind gusts of 25-27 m/s, ice on the roads. We urge drivers to avoid traveling in regions where bad weather is raging. If you need help, contact the emergency service numbers: 101 and 102.”

In addition, Yevhen Vasylenko noted that Points of Invincibility and mobile heating points have started working throughout the territory of Ukraine.
