Since the full-scale invasion outbroke, SES mine action operators have defused almost half a million explosive devices

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-blown invasion of Ukraine, the State Emergency Service demining personnel have seized and disposed of over 464,000 pieces of explosive ordnance, including 3,145 aircraft bombs.

Oleksandr Khorunzhyy, Press Officer of the State Emergency Service made this statement, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform. 

According to him, the explosive ordnance disposal continues in winter, but the operations may be somewhat limited depending on cold-weather conditions. 

At the same time, Oleksandr Khorunzhyy noted that the main areas of pyrotechnic residues as a subject of area clearance are Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. He noted that the largest number of SES explosive ordnance units are focused there. In addition, operations are also carried out in Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions.
