Since the beginning of the year, 79 people have died in water – SES

Since the beginning of 2025, 79 people have drowned in water bodies, including six children.

These figures were announced by Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, spokesman for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

He said that among the 79 drowning victims were 65 men and 14 women, including six children.

According to the SES spokesman, the majority of the victims were between 50 and 70 years old.

Khorunzhyi also noted that most drownings occurred in rivers (46 cases), followed by ponds (33 cases).

The oblasts with the highest number of drownings include Kyiv oblast (10) Vinnytsia oblast (8), Dnipropetrovsk oblast (7), Odesa oblast (7), Kharkiv oblast (6), Chernihiv oblast (5).
