Since the beginning of the year, 43 people have been rescued in the mountains – SES

Since the beginning of 2025, rescuers of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) have participated in 35 mountain rescue operations. During this period 43 people were rescued, including 5 children.

This was reported by SES press officer Oleksandr Khorunzhiy during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Since the beginning of 2025 we have had 35 incidents where SES rescuers were deployed in the mountains to save lives. Two people died in the mountains. Compared to the same period last year, when one person died, this is a 100% increase, but the total number of fatalities is still not staggering. At the same time, SES mountain rescue teams rescued 43 people, including 5 children. In 2024, 35 people were rescued during the same period, including 2 children. This means that this year we have saved 20% more lives than last year,” said Oleksandr Khorunzhiy.
