Since start of full-scale invasion, over 270 people killed by mines and explosive ordnance

Over 270 civilians, including 14 children, have been killed by landmines and explosive ordnance since the full-scale invasion began. More than 600 citizens were injured.

Serhii Reva, Head of the Department for Organizational Work on Humanitarian Demining at the Ukraine’s State Emergency Service, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.

“Unfortunately, war leaves its mark and we have civilian casualties caused by mines and explosive ordnance. According to the Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the war, over 270 people, including 14 children, have been killed by mines and other explosive ordnance, more than 600 people have been injured, including 74 children,” said the representative of the State Emergency Service.

In addition, he noted, the State Emergency Service pays special attention to raising the population’s awareness about the risks of explosive ordnance. Since the beginning of the russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine, there were more than 33,000 events, which covered almost 1.1 million people. Explaining the safety rules and regulations around explosive ordnance to children of different ages remains a top priority.
