Since September, the number of border crossings has significantly decreased – State Border Guard Service of Ukraine

In September the number of border crossings decreased by one million in comparison with August.

This was reported by the spokesman of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andrii Demchenko, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.

“Since the first month of the fall, we have seen a decrease in the number of border crossings. For example, in August a little over four million people crossed the border, while in September the number of crossings decreased by one million. In fact, just over three million border crossings were recorded in September, both outgoing and incoming. 85% of the three million people who crossed the border were Ukrainian citizens,” Andrii Demchenko said.

According to the SBGS spokesman, during the summer months there was either an increase in departures or an increase in arrivals: for example, in June more people left Ukraine, while in July and August more people arrived. In September, however, the flow of passengers was balanced at 50/50.

“There is neither a strong tendency to enter Ukraine nor a strong tendency to leave it. But the total number of border crossings has decreased significantly,” he added.

Andrii Demchenko noted that, as before, 50% of the total passenger flow occurs at the border with Poland.
