SCHEDULE OF MEDIA CENTER UKRAINE – LVIV EVENTS (LVIV, 20 RUSKA STR.) FOR OCTOBER 5
2:30 pm – Human trafficking in time of war: briefing with law enforcement and OSCE representatives
Participants:
– Liliia Hrudko, OSCE Human Security Project Co-ordinator;
– Andrii Shakhov, Office of the General Prosecutor;
– Volodymyr Honcharuk, Director of the Labour Department;
– Blaguta Roman, Rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs;
– Oleksandr Buniak, Head of the Migration Police Department in Ternopil Region.
Why this is interesting:
With the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the focus of human traffickers has shifted from labour to sexual exploitation. A recent poll by the International Organisation for Migration showed that more than half of Ukrainian citizens are willing to accept a risky offer that could lead to trafficking.
During the briefing, the speakers will share the current situation regarding the risks for Ukrainian citizens, information on the most popular areas of exploitation, and the intricacies of wartime crime. The speakers will also tell how the National Mechanism for Interaction of Subjects works, which provides for broad collaboration between government agencies, NGOs and international organisations to facilitate the full recovery of the affected person.
The briefing is a joint initiative of representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Department of Labour and Migration Police.
