SBGS responds to delegation of defense procurement oversight

The State Border Guard Service (SBGS) has addressed its role in implementing the budget program for defense procurement, following a recent decision by the Cabinet of Ministers to entrust the agency with managing weapons acquisition for the Defense Forces.

This topic was the focus of a briefing held at the Media Center Ukraine, where Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, provided further details.

“I am not authorized to comment on defense procurement specifics,” Demchenko stated. “However, I can confirm that the State Border Guard Service is an integral part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and operates strictly within the bounds of current legislation. Our actions are always aligned with Ukraine’s national interests. Everything we do is aimed at securing victory and enabling our soldiers to effectively counter enemy forces. When the State Border Guard Service received certain proposals, they were promptly forwarded to the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces for evaluation and decision-making. This process culminated in a Cabinet of Ministers order, issued at the Ministry of Defense’s recommendation, authorizing the State Border Guard Service to take specific actions to enhance the defensive capabilities of Ukraine’s military units,” Demchenko explained.
