“russians Shell Sumy Oblast Every Day, Using All Heavy Weapons Available,” Head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration

The night in Sumy Oblast was calm, but yesterday russians shelled communities on the border using artillery and small arms. The shelling resumed this morning. There were even two air attacks.

Dmytro Zhyvytskyy, Head of the Sumy Oblast Military Administration, stated this during his briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“The Myropillia brigade has been shelled with artillery from russia during the last hour. The enemy is using all heavy weapons available. The russians do this to destabilize the situation in the region. Their missiles hit civilian infrastructure, family homes, and even a mental health institution. It is not fit for accommodating people anymore. All patients had to be evacuated,” he said.

Over 2,500 buildings were damaged or destroyed in the Oblast. The recovery process goes on.

“We are restoring an important bridge between Sumy and Lebedyn. However, in concurrence with the military, we refrain from restoring all bridges near the border for security reasons,” Dmytro Zhyvytskyy explained.
