russia tests repressive apparatus to prevent mobilization riots – Vadym Denysenko
Protests denouncing mobilization in russia will become significantly harder to organize as they will assume a completely different form. Currently, russia is testing its entire repressive machine to prevent such uprisings.
This perspective was shared by political scientist Vadym Denysenko during a presentation of a sociological survey conducted in russia at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
According to the survey, when asked if mobilization is currently happening in russia, 40% of respondents said yes. Meanwhile, 50% responded no or probably no, and 10% had no answer.
“Regrettably, we must recognize that russia has learned extensively from the massive mobilization in the fall of 2022 over the past two years. The entire mobilization process has now moved online. Today, they are testing electronic notices to draftees and reservists. Unfortunately, we must understand that there will be no repeat of the mass protests of fall 2022 for one simple reason—everything is now conducted through electronic conscription notices and russia’s main public services portal, Gosuslugi. This process will be much slower and quieter than in 2022,” explained Vadym Denysenko.
