russia currently lacks sufficient forces along its northern border to contemplate a reinvasion of Ukraine – State Border Guard Service
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, conveyed this assessment during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“In terms of the border with belarus, russia’s troop presence is inadequate for any re-invasion plans. russia previously withdrew all units from belarus, including those engaged in training or coordination with belarusian forces, primarily stationed at training facilities. Following their withdrawal to russian territory, there hasn’t been any rotational influx of new units,” remarked Andrii Demchenko.
He underscored that while there’s currently no immediate threat from this quarter, readiness for any eventuality remains paramount. Moreover, according to Demchenko, the adversary lacks sufficient forces along the border with russia to mount another invasion.
“On the border with russia, while there’s a presence of roughly 19-20 thousand military personnel on the russian side, this contingent is insufficient to facilitate a large-scale invasion, considering the entirety of the Ukraine-controlled border with russia,” elucidated the SBGS spokesman.
He further highlighted that any actions by russia would likely be more tactical in nature. “russia’s current maneuvers along the Ukrainian border primarily aim at ensuring Ukraine maintains requisite troop levels, fortifying the region, and preventing troop relocation to more critical zones experiencing full-scale hostilities,” added Andrii Demchenko.
