“Return of fuel tax is an opportunity to replenish Ukraine’s state budget,” fuel expert

All around the world, fuel taxes are quite a powerful source of budget income. There are targeted programs to support public transport and road maintenance at the expense of these funds. The return of fuel tax is necessary for the budget.

Sergei Kuyun, Director of Consulting Group A95, made this statement at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“It’s no secret that Ukraine’s finances are in a difficult situation right now. Therefore, the issue of returning fuel taxes is a matter of time. At the end of March, they were canceled, which greatly helped consumers. But now is the time for pragmatic decisions,” — he said.

According to the fuel expert, it is necessary to review the fuel taxation system, adapting it to current realities.

“Before the war, the tax on gasoline was 4 times higher than on fuel gas. This should not be the case, these cars use the roads equally. Therefore, the tax should be calculated more fairly and evenly,” — Sergei Kuyun said.

According to him, the proposal of the Cabinet of Ministers on tax unification is absolutely correct.
