“Polyphony of Personality”: The National Philharmonic of Ukraine and cultural icon Anatolii Matviichuk launch a public interview series
On June 11 at 5:00 PM, the National Philharmonic of Ukraine will debut a new public interview series in collaboration with renowned cultural figure Anatolii Matviichuk. This monthly event will feature notable personalities from Ukrainian culture who will share their stories and answer questions from both the host and the audience at the Philharmonic’s music salon.
The project was announced at a briefing held at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
Mykhailo Shved, Director of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, explained that the initiative aims to broaden the institution’s audience and explore new forms of engagement. The goal is to highlight the achievements of distinguished Ukrainian artists, many of whom are not widely recognized by the public.
“There are remarkable musicians, conductors, and composers with profound, conceptual thinking, yet we know almost nothing about them. Their music plays on its own while they live modestly in the background, which is often overlooked. We need to bring these individuals into the spotlight out of obscurity, introduce them to the public and the media, and let them share their stories. It’s important for people to see that we have our own cultural titans, and they are not somewhere in the far off distance, but here and now,” explained Anatolii Matviichuk, the project’s creator.
The series will feature storytelling sessions with prominent contemporary artists. In addition to intimate conversations, the program will include musical performances and solo acts.
The inaugural guest will be Anatolii Palamarenko, a Shevchenko Prize winner and People’s Artist of Ukraine. Future guests include Kyrylo Stetsenko, Vadym Kryshchenko, and Milana Skoryk, daughter of Myroslav Skoryk.
The discussions will be recorded and made available on the National Philharmonic of Ukraine’s YouTube channel, ensuring that a wider audience can engage with the project.
