People seeking to obtain Ukrainian citizenship should be required to take Ukrainian language test in form of external independent evaluation — Fedir Venislavskyi
The level of Ukrainian language proficiency of people seeking to obtain Ukrainian citizenship must be determined by either professional educational institutions or independent evaluators. Fedir Venislavskyi, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, Member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“We already have the external independent evaluation system, which has all the necessary tools to determine the level of Ukrainian language proficiency of a person seeking to obtain Ukrainian citizenship. I think that this will be the most correct, absolutely corruption-free mechanism for confirming the Ukrainian language knowledge, because everything else contains corruption risks, which we should move away from,” — Fedir Venislavskyi said.
As reported, on October 18, the Verkhovna Rada adopted in the first reading the bill that requires foreigners seeking to obtain Ukrainian citizenship to take, history, language and Constitution tests.
