Path to full EU membership usually takes 4 years, but we can do it faster — MP Merezhko

Western politicians predict different timetables, within which Ukraine will be able to become a full member of the European Union. The periods of 10 years or more are being mentioned. This statement was made by Chair of the Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Merezhko during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine. According to him, the path from candidacy to membership usually takes 4.5 years.

“A lot depends on us, on our speed on the path of reforms related to European integration. But there are some objective problems, mainly our victory over russia as an aggressor state. But I hope that with the support of our friends in the EU, we will be able to do this much faster. I would like it to happen in a year or two. But I am an optimist in this regard,” — Oleksandr Merezhko said.
