Partial restoration of agricultural land after the explosion at Kakhovka HPP will cost at least 4,5 billions euros

Experts estimate that this will require an investment of 2-3 thousand euros per hectare. This was stated by Pavlo Koval, general director of the Ukrainian agrarian confederation, at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.

“We have lost 550-600 thousand hectares of irrigated land in Kherson region only. If we add Dnipro and Zaporizhzhia regions, this figure will increase to 1.5 millions hectares. That is, if we need to restore the dam, pumping stations, water intakes, and the network for drip irrigation, it will cost hundreds of millions of euros, that is, about 4,5 billions euros,” – Koval said.

He added that no one has ever implemented such projects in Ukraine, and that the restoration should be carried out according to “green” technology standards. And it will not be possible to grow wheat, sunflower, and corn on these lands using only drip irrigation.
