“Pantsir” Units Installed on the Roofs of Buildings in moscow Is a “Last-Resort Weapon”, Efficacy of Which Is Questionable — Iurii Ihnat

Air defense systems were installed on roofs of some buildings in the center of moscow: in particular, the Pantsir-S1 complex was noted on the roof of the Defense Ministry building. Iurii Ihnat, Speaker of the Air Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, spoke during the briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform about why this was done and what will be the effect.

“It looks pretty funny. The Pantsir unit represents an anti-aircraft complex. They intended for shooting down UAVs, in particular combat ones, at a short distance. russians are afraid of being hit out of nowhere. The world practices installation of such systems, but not in such a barbaric way as russia does. There are packaged units with a stand with machine guns on them operating in an automatic mode. When there is a threat, the system turns on. This is a “last-resort weapon”: if everything else will be missed in the moscow region, and then it will fly to Moscow, and the building will allegedly be able to protect itself with the help of these machine guns. russia followed the chunky method and installed the entire unit with tracks on the roof. Its efficacy from such height is questionable: the shell may simply fly lower. Therefore, this has the greatest effect for the population, perhaps to prepare them for further mobilization. “The Motherland calls”: everyone should see tanks on pedestals, and Pantsirs on the roofs,” Iurii Ihnat said.
