Over the past year, the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language received 2,888 complaints, and the number of sanctions increased
The largest number of violations—26%—occurred on websites, 19% involved signage and advertising, and 18%—the third-highest category—occurred in the service sector. This was stated by Olena Ivanovska, Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, during a briefing at the Ukraine Media Center.
“The quality of complaint submissions has also improved, and the review of administrative cases regarding language violations has increased by 63%. The number of sanctions has also increased. A total of 706 sanctions were imposed—57.2% were warnings, and 95 fines were levied,” she said.
Olena Ivanovska emphasized the need to increase the amount of fines.
