Over the past week, there were 82 fires in natural ecosystems in Kharkiv Oblast, most of which were due to spontaneous burning of leaves: spokesman of the Main Department of State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv Oblast Y. Vasylenko

On Monday, Kharkiv Media Hub hosted another briefing by the spokesman of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, Yevhen Vasylenko, who described the situation in the Kharkiv region, which took place between August 18 and 24.

According to Yevhen Vasylenko, over the past week, the rescuers of the Kharkiv garrison made 225 trips under the “Alarm” signal, 20 of which were related to enemy shelling. 2 people were rescued from the fire. 1 person, unfortunately, died.

The speaker noted that sappers of the State Service for Emergency Situations continue to demine the de-occupied and affected areas of the Kharkiv region as a result of russian aggression. Thus, in the period from September 18 to 25, Kharkiv rescuers went out 180 times in response to calls from citizens to identify suspicious or explosive objects – 548 munitions were eliminated.

26 pyrotechnic calculations and 52 units of special equipment of the unified detachment of the State Emergency Service continue work on the survey of power lines in the Kharkiv region. In general, since the beginning of the Great War, pyrotechnics have inspected more than 3633 hectares of territory, about 2.6 thousand km of power lines, discovered and neutralized more than 78 thousand explosive objects.

According to Yevhen Vasylenko, over the past week one civilian – a truck driver – suffered numerous injuries due to the detonation of his car on an enemy anti-tank mine. During the 19 months of the full-scale invasion of the russians on the territory of Ukraine, 227 similar accidents occurred, as a result of which 40 people died and more than 200 were injured.

Also, the spokesman of the Kharkiv Department of the State Service for Emergency Situations drew attention to the fact that 82 fires in natural ecosystems occurred in the region last week. The cause of most of the accidents was spontaneous burning of leaves and dry grass, which starts every year at this time. Vasylenko drew attention to the danger of dry burning in de-occupied territories, or in places where intensive hostilities took place, as such actions can lead to the detonation of unexploded ammunition, engineering mines or improvised explosive devices.

This is extremely dangerous for life, in particular for the lives of rescuers who will put out dry grass fires in open areas. Therefore, we draw your attention: burning plant residues is strictly prohibited! Violation of the legislation is punishable by administrative and criminal liability. Actions that caused the death of people, the mass death of animals or other serious consequences are punishable by imprisonment! – noted Vasylenko.
