Over past year, seven Defense Ministry officials served notices of suspicion for corruption offenses
Over the past year, seven officials from the Ministry of Defense have been served notices of suspicion for alleged corruption offenses, with specialized prosecutor’s offices in the defense sector overseeing the proceedings. Among those implicated are individuals, deemed notorious by the investigation, involved in the procurement of substandard body armor.
Andriy Kostin, Prosecutor General of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“One case against them has already been transferred to the High Anti-Corruption Court. Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the specialized prosecutor’s office in the field of defense, two more investigations are underway. These proceeding involve the acquisition of low-quality bulletproof vests and personal protective equipment in the amount of over UAH 1.4 billion, the procurement of poor-quality winter uniforms in the amount of UAH 945 million, as well as the embezzlement of budget funds in the amount of more than UAH 250 million,” explained Andriy Kostin.
