Over 50% of passenger traffic goes through border with Poland – State Border Guard Service
This year, more than 13 million people have crossed the Polish border.
Andrii Demchenko, Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, made this statement during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“This year, 13.3 million people have crossed the border with Poland. And actually, more than 50% of passenger traffic falls on this section. Other (countries – Ed.), with which Ukraine has borders and open checkpoints, account for the rest, less than 50%,” he explained.
In addition, the Spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine said that the overall level of passenger traffic within 9 months of 2023 compared to the same period last year increased by 6%. And the overall level of transport passenger traffic – by 7%.
“For example, this year 27,160,000 people crossed the border in 9 months, and in 2022, 25,600,000 people crossed the border during the same period,” he added.
Andrii Demchenko also noted that compared to the summer months, the passenger traffic is decreasing. So, September saw a decrease of about 15%, compared to August. The level of transport passenger traffic decreased by 5% in September.
