Over 4,000 applicants from among IDPs and those in occupied territories enroll in Ukrainian universities in 2024 – Ministry of Education and Science
In the 2024 admissions cycle, over 4,000 aspiring students from Ukraine’s temporarily occupied areas and displaced persons from these regions successfully secured spots at Ukrainian higher education institutions.
This information was shared by Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“We’ve enrolled 69,000 students in state-funded programs this year. Notably, within Quota 2, which pertains to applicants from the temporarily occupied territories or those who relocated from these areas to Ukrainian-controlled regions in 2024, we saw over 4,000 applicants. This number is particularly significant as it represents 4,000 young individuals who, despite living under occupation, have chosen to pursue their education in Ukrainian institutions. Given the immense pressure they face to attend russian universities, each of these students is a valuable asset to our nation. It is imperative that we continue to attract more of our citizens, wherever they may be, to join our competitive higher education system,” Vynnytskyi revealed.
