Over 1,500 Mariupol defenders remain in russian captivity
More than 1,500 Mariupol defenders are currently held captive by the russian federation. About 900 of them are servicemen of the Azov brigade.
Yevheniia Synelnyk, representative of the Association of Azovstal Defenders’ Families, made this statement at a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.
“A total of over 2,500 soldiers left Mariupol on May 20, 2022. Today, two and a half years later a total of over 1,500 is still in captivity. About 900 of them are servicemen of the Azov brigade. Earlier there were 700, and now there are 900, because 700 are representatives of Azov, but before it used to be a regiment, and now it is a brigade combining the National Guard and Azov,” she said.
