Over 1,300 illicitly transferred or displaced Ukrainian children repatriated, but 19,000 remain in occupied territories or russia – human rights advocate
Since the onset of russia’s full-scale invasion, 1,345 Ukrainian children who were illegally deported or forcibly taken have been returned home. However, more than 19,000 remain in russian-held areas or within the russian federation, according to a human rights advocate.
The figures were reported by Oleksandra Dvoretska, human rights defender and head of policy at the Bring Kids Back UA initiative.
“Fortunately, 1,345 children have been returned. More than 19,000 others are still in the temporarily occupied territories or the russian federation, and that’s only based on the cases we are aware of. These children have been subjected to this crime,” she stated.
