On the eve of the full-scale invasion, Lukashenko met with Medvedchuk almost every month

From the summer of 2021 until the full-scale invasion, Alexandr Lukashenko met with Viktor Medvedchuk six times.

This was revealed by political analyst Ihar Tyshkevich during the presentation of the report “Belarus 2025: Forecast of Political Processes” at the Media Center Ukraine.

“One of the key developments for Ukrainians was a significant shift in Belarusian policy toward Ukraine in 2021. For the first time in years, official Minsk began to engage with political opponents of the Ukrainian government. I would like to emphasize that between the summer of 2021 and the start of the full-scale invasion, Lukashenko met with Viktor Medvedchuk six times – practically every month, even more often than with putin. Sometimes Medvedchuk traveled to Belarus, and other times Lukashenko met with him in St. Petersburg. This suggests that Lukashenko was betting on a change of power in Ukraine, and it is very likely that he believed that Ukraine would surrender within three days,” Ihar Tyshkevich said.
