Occupiers attempted to reconnect the ZNPP power unit to serve some occupied territories, – Hryhorii Plachkov
The occupiers endeavored to reconnect a power unit at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) to supply electricity to the regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea seized by Russians. However, no confirmation exists that these attempts were successful.
This information was shared by Hryhorii Plachkov, former Head of the State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation (2017-2021), during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“The situation at the plant remains dire, there is no improvement, with occupants still present at our Ukrainian nuclear facility. Reports indicate they tried to activate one power unit to serve the occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions and Crimea. However, there is no confirmation that any power unit has been reconnected. Currently, all six units remain in a state of cold shutdown, while the invaders continue to occupy our nuclear plant,” Plachkov stated.
