Occupation “courts” sentenced 8 Ukrainian citizens – NGO “Eastern Human Rights Group”
The sentences range from 14 years to life imprisonment. This was stated by Vira Yastrebova, attorney, director of the NGO “Shidna Pravosazahisna Grupa” (Eastern Human Rights Group), at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine – Odesa.
She added that seven of the convicts are captured Ukrainian servicemen.
“A resident of Lutugine in Luhansk region was sentenced by the occupation court to 14 years in a strict regime colony for “high treason”. Also in the Luhansk region, a National Guard soldier was sentenced to 14 years in prison in a strict regime colony. In addition, two soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were sentenced to 14 and 15 years in a strict regime colony,” – the human rights activist said.
In the Donetsk region, a captured Ukr army soldier was sentenced to 25 years in prison by the occupiers’ court, and another captured soldier received 17 years. The occupiers also sentenced another guardsman to 20 years in prison, and another guardsman received a life sentence, said Vira Yastrebova.
Vira Yastrebova said that in the first half of 2023, the investigative committee of the russian federation in the occupied Kherson region detained 234 people in 190 “criminal cases” against Ukrainian citizens. 45 criminal cases were sent to the occupation courts, 37 of which are classified as serious and especially serious crimes.
She also noted that the occupation units of the Investigative Committee have opened more than 3,820 cases in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
