Nuclear power accounts for 55% of total electricity generation in Ukraine – Oleksandr Kharchenko

Nuclear energy is currently the backbone of Ukraine’s power system, accounting for about 55% of the country’s total electricity generation.

This was emphasized by Oleksandr Kharchenko, director of the Energy Industry Research Center, during a briefing at Media Center Ukraine.

“Nuclear energy is now essentially system-forming – we need to understand this. About 55% of our remaining total electricity production comes from nuclear power. The nuclear reactors are operating, supplying electricity, and thanks to this we are largely able to limit restrictions on electricity consumption for consumers,” he said.
