Now 179 Children Stay in Bakhmut: There Are Problems with Leave Consents; The Work with Parents Is Underway — National Police
Since the full-scale invasion, hundreds of children have been evacuated from combat areas. Now it is important to work with the families of those who remain in danger. Yaroslav Shanko, Deputy Head of Juvenile Prevention Directorate of the National Police, made this statement during the briefing in Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.
“We now focus more on those children who stay there. We need to work with these families. Using the example of Bakhmut, I can say that there are still 179 children there. Evacuation teams are working to convey information about the importance of evacuation and ensuring safety and do everything possible to ensure that every child stands safe and secure,” Yaroslav Shanko said.
Juvenile police officers and Bilyi Ianhol (white angel) evacuation teams carry out systemic works with parents and guardians of children still residing in the war zone.
“There are problems with consensual leaving. The police officers do their best to protect every child from accidents that may be caused by military operations. Bulletproof vests and bullet-resisting helmets are already used in practice, and we take as many measures as possible,” the expert added.
