No verified information on creation of the so-called «KhPR» yet – Kherson Mayor Ihor Kolykhaiev

Mayor of Kherson Ihor Kolykhaiev said during a briefing at Ukraine Media Center there was no verified information on the potential creation of the so-called «Kherson People’s Republic» yet.

The mayor of Kherson said that the city has been under russian occupation since March 3. He added that fewer residents of the city attended pro-Ukrainian rallies and there were two reasons for this. First, people are actively leaving to other cities. Second, the russian Federal Security Service (FSB) is «working» with local activists.

«It hurts a lot for me when people leave Kherson. This is an inner pain for me, both as a city dweller, and as a mayor. By leaving their houses and apartments, there is a forecast that people will never return here», – head of Kherson noted.

The mayor also said that there was still no safe green corridor towards Mykolaiv, therefore people self-organize, and get in touch on social media to leave together. The City Council, together with volunteers, managed to resolve the issue of providing food in the occupied city. Volunteers also deliver medicines, which the pharmacies currently lack.
