No electricity restrictions expected in September and October, experts say

Under favorable conditions, power outages may significantly decrease in late summer and fall, experts revealed at a Media Center Ukraine discussion.

Oleksandr Kharchenko, Director at the Energy Industry Research Center, suggested that electricity restrictions could be completely avoided in September and October.

“I believe that September and October could be quite positive. With good weather and a bit of luck, there might be no restrictions at all,” he stated.

Yurii Boiko, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Ukraine and Member of the Ukrenergo Supervisory Board, outlined the factors that could improve the power situation in late summer and autumn.

“We expect fewer temperature anomalies in August and September compared to previous months, but plenty of sunshine. Additionally, the repair campaigns for key producers are well underway. The grid balance indicates that as some producers go offline for repairs, others are coming back online. This trend should lead to more producers being active than those under maintenance. These factors suggest we can anticipate relief in August, September, and likely October, depending on the weather and the resultant load on the Ukrainian power system,” Boiko explained.
