Next year’s budget allocates one billion hryvnias for demining agricultural land, down from three billion in 2024 – Denys Marchuk
Next year’s budget allocates one billion hryvnias for the demining of agricultural land, compared to three billion hryvnias allocated in 2024.
This was reported by Denys Marchuk, Deputy Head of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“The main problem that has slowed down this process, in my opinion, is that although three billion hryvnias were allocated in 2024 to speed up demining, very few actually used this support. The Ministry of Economy, which oversees this program, probably needs to analyze the reasons for this. The problem now is that only one billion hryvnia has been allocated for next year instead of three. We hope that the increase in the number of professional demining groups, including those representing foreign companies, will attract international funds to finance this work. While the figure of 255,000 hectares (of demined land this year – ed.) may seem significant, there are still 1-1.5 million hectares of land to be surveyed, especially in the Zaporizhia, Kherson, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts,” Marchuk noted.
