Nearly 500 victims of conflict-related sexual violence apply for urgent reparations

A total of 498 individuals have applied for urgent interim reparations after suffering conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV), with more than half of the applications coming from men.

This data was shared by Kateryna Levchenko, Ukraine’s Government Commissioner for Gender Policy, during a discussion at the Media Center Ukraine.

“To date, we have received 498 appeals from those who either identify as victims or suspect they may be victims of CRSV. An identification committee follows up with interviews, assessments, and a procedure developed alongside survivors to uphold ethical standards and minimize trauma,” Levchenko explained. “Out of these appeals, 272 were from men, 216 from women, 2 from boys, and 8 from girls.”

As of October 10, reparations have been distributed to 238 individuals—121 men and 117 women.
