NABU Director: Seven high-ranking state officials prosecuted in first half of 2024
In the first six months of 2024, seven high-ranking state officials have faced prosecution as a result of the efforts of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO).
This information was revealed by Semen Kryvonos, the Director of NABU, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“Our primary focus is on tackling large-scale corruption, particularly schemes involving millions of dollars, where losses amount to hundreds of millions of hryvnias. We concentrate on current corruption cases, especially those orchestrated by so-called ‘watchdogs’ or senior officials. The numbers speak for themselves—seven high-ranking state officials have been prosecuted in the first half of this year. Among them are category A officials, members of parliament, and top officials from various state bodies. This includes six senior officials, eleven heads of state-owned enterprises, five judges, and five regional council deputies,” Kryvonos stated.
Kryvonos also mentioned that the first suspicions have been raised, and one conviction has already been secured by the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) against a senior official for illegal enrichment.
