Most Ukrainians find it more convenient to read in Ukrainian – survey results
In 2023, the trends of what language people choose to read in have changed significantly. Thus, 54% of Ukrainians indicated that it is more convenient for them to read in Ukrainian.
This conclusion comes from the results of the survey “How do Ukrainians read in 2023 amid full-scale invasion” which was presented at Media Center Ukraine – Ukrinform.
“When we study this issue, people tell us that it is more convenient for them to read in Ukrainian. This is 54%, this indicator shows a very serious growth. And accordingly, for us, this indicates such a trend that people will probably read more and more in the Ukrainian language,” said Liudmyla Yuzva, a sociologist at Info Sapiens and a researcher of media content and gender issues.
Accordingly, she emphasized, there is a decline in the trend that most people find it more convenient to read in russian, and the middle ground attitude, the attitude of indifference, when it doesn’t matter what language to read in, is also on the decline.
