Military tax poses significant challenge for honest businesses, says Anna Derevyanko
The military tax is expected to become a substantial hurdle for many businesses, with 53% of companies aiming to absorb the cost themselves, according to a recent study. However, 33% of businesses say they will struggle to manage the burden.
This insight was shared by Anna Derevyanko, Executive Director of the European Business Association, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“It’s unfortunate that honest businesses are left to shoulder this burden alone, and the strain will be considerable,” Derevianko remarked. “Our research indicates that this military tax will be a major obstacle for bona fide companies, with 53% trying to cover the cost themselves, while 33% simply won’t be able to manage it. The situation is challenging. Ultimately, it won’t just be businesses paying the tax; it will trickle down to the people. Other taxes will likely lead to price increases as well, meaning consumers will bear the cost,” she added.
