Military Surgeons Rescued a Wounded Soldier with a Gunshot Penetrating Wound to the Heart

Hanna Maliar, Deputy Minister of Defense, reported this at her briefing at Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

“In one of our field hospitals, military surgeons rescued a soldier with a penetrating wound to the heart. First, the wounded soldier was delivered by military medics rapidly and professionally to the hospital. After that, surgeons demonstrated their professional work. The surgery took two hours; the wounded soldier is currently being rehabilitated and feels well.

It is worth mentioning that most wounded people with gunshot injuries to the heart die before reaching the hospital. Furthermore, such wounds are lethal in up to 90% of cases. Thus, the odds of survival are minimal.
