Leaving the country for cultural figures and media representatives: the State Border Guard Service explains which documents will be checked at the border
Changes in border crossing regulations for cultural and media workers have already come into effect. In addition to a new procedure for submitting travel applications, the new rules include a list of documents to be checked by border guards when crossing the border.
This was stated by Andrii Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine, during a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine.
“I would like to note that at the border checkpoints our inspectors will check several things, as specified in the updated border crossing regulations. It is mandatory to have a letter from the Ministry of Culture about the person in question, specifying their destination, as well as a letter from the foreign institution hosting the event or engagement, with a Ukrainian translation. Another requirement is a military registration document with appropriate marks from territorial recruitment centers. This is not an exemption or exclusion from military registration, but simply an update of one’s military registration information. This document must be in either printed or electronic form,” Demchenko explained.
At the same time, he emphasized that another condition for crossing the border by this category of citizens – both cultural figures and media representatives – is the confirmation of the purpose of the trip directly at the checkpoint.
“If our inspectors find out that a person has declared participation in an event abroad, but the actual purpose of their trip is completely different, they may be denied permission to cross the state border of Ukraine,” Demchenko noted.
